Reporting Animal Abuse
Animal abuse and neglect can take many forms. It ranges from not providing adequate food, water, or shelter to leaving animals outside in extreme temperatures to repeatedly breeding to violence to fighting animals. Often times these mistreatments go unreported because people don’t know these actions can be reported, are afraid to report what they see, or worry that they may be rushing to conclusions.
Please if you see something, don’t wait to report it. Don’t think someone else will report it or that the problem will resolve itself, chances are it won’t. If you wait too long help might be too late. Additionally, reports can be made anonymously; so there is no need to be afraid of reporting.
The fact is, these actions are ILLEGAL, and you CAN do something to stop them. So please, if you see animals being mistreated report it! These animals have no way to reach out for help. You are their life line; it’s up to you to help them.
Mistreatment can be reported state-wide to Animal Protection at 505-265-2322 Or to your local shelter.
